A perfect Gin and Tonic is served in a wide glass

Neither short glass, nor tall glass, nor wide glass, nor thick glass, nor anything like that. Copa. Pyx.

You read that right: peel, not slice. This point is critical.

The slice adds excessive acid and reacts immediately with the bicarbonate in the tonic, ruining the bubbles and leaving the drink flat.

…and don’t even touch the squeezed lemon, which some mediocre bars and pubs garnish it with, you’ve never seen anything like it.

Ice. A good gin starts with the feet.

Ice cubes, like a man’s shoes, may seem like accessories, yet they are the cornerstone of impeccable presentation. Six ice cubes minimum.

Brands. Yes, brand-conscious people. Any problem with that?

Gin, Fever Tree tonic water, and more… They’re a bit pricey and not easy to find. Which isn’t the same thing.

These tonic waters aren’t as bitter as usual. There aren’t any other alternatives… okay, there are, but they’re not for the perfect Gin and Tonic .

They can be garnished, if the occasion warrants it, by coating the entrance of the glass with lemon peel, and there are some extremely exciting variations:

Coffee beans, cinnamon sticks, a slice of cucumber… and things like that.

But sometimes we leave the originality in the hands of the bartender.

A Gin and Tonic is a Gin and Tonic… period.
